In Farnoosh Brock’s book, The 8 Pillars of Motivation, she argues that striving for and reaching her goals caused her to be unhappy with her life. She admits that she successfully met the goals she had for her corporate career and her family.
Even though she met her goals, she was unhappy. How could reaching her goals make her so unhappy? She must be crazy because we’d all be happy if we could reach our goals. Right?
Farnoosh learned through her endeavors that she was unhappy because her goals fit her into a pretty little box. Her box would appear to be well decorated and furnished with the joys of life. However, her box included only what she could envision.
That box did not include all the experiences she didn’t even know she could have. She was unhappy because she wanted something greater than even she could imagine. The great thing is that she has the freedom to make that happen.
Do you want something greater than you can imagine? Will you take advantage of the freedom you have? Or, will you be happy fitting into the box that includes 2.5 kids, a $200,000 mortgage, a dog and working until your 65?
If you can step outside your box, you can find your potential and become great. When you find greatness, you’ll find happiness.
Farnoosh states, “Tapping into your true potential and aspiring for greatness is not made for weak hearts and closed minds. You are either in or you are out.”
Join me by beginning a quest to find our potential. I believe it is possible to find my potential, find greatness and reach a point of true happiness. Do you believe it is possible?
We are fortunate Farnoosh wrote this book so we can learn from her. I highly encourage you to read it. You can get it here.
