Like most people, I’m willing to sacrifice sleep and wake up before the sun rises to do what I love. So on a day when I didn’t have to get up early to go to work, I woke up early anyway. I woke by 4:30 a.m. and was on the lake by 5:30. I arrived and had my line in the water by first light.
The air was still. The water was clear. The animals making sounds as I walk around the lake. Turkeys were calling and deer were snorting. Everything was right with the world (or so it seemed at the time) except that the fish weren’t biting. That’s okay. Being outside on a day like this and witnessing the glory of nature was worth it.
Of course, I would have preferred to catch more fish. But I won’t complain. What is there really to complain about? Nothing. Life was good!
If something doesn’t go the way you want it to go, what do you think? Do you complain about it or do you see the proverbial silver lining? You can find something good in almost every situation. What can you find?
Do you even look for the beauty of life that surrounds you? Try seeing the beauty in the people you interact with or the scenery you encounter. Take joy in the choices you have to react to different situations. Appreciate that life is not Utopian and you get to have different experiences.
Stop thinking negatively and look at the bright side. Life is good. In fact, it’s beautiful.
