It has been said that you are the average of the five people who you hang around most. Your average will include wealth, attitude, outlook, number of friends and more. Your sphere of influence will have such a dynamic effect on your life. Who you include in your sphere should be intentional, not an accident.
If you could look into a crystal ball and see your future, would you be happy with what you see? You cannot know exactly how your life with run its course but you can definitely steer the car on the path of your life. If you continue hanging out with the friends you have now, will you get to be where you want to be? Ask that to yourself sincerely. Will your current friends help you reach your goals?
Be careful as you plan your life and bring people into your sphere of influence. If you focus just on financial success and bring only financially successful people into your sphere, you most likely will experience financial success. Is that good? Maybe.
Will you be happy to experience financial success if you have to sacrifice your relationship with your spouse, children or God? See, your look into the future needs to include every aspect of your future. It needs to include your spirituality, family, finances and health. To be a completely happy person, each of those four aspects of your life need to be in tact.
Each person you allow in your sphere of influence should also be focused on those four areas of his/her life. If each person does not, he or she may over influence your life in a way you don’t want. It takes a lot of effort to find friends who can be supportive, motivating and caring about those four areas. Go about your days looking for those people.
Maybe you know of someone who fits the bill but you don’t know the person directly. Find out how to get connected. Someone in your network likely knows someone who knows someone who knows your target person. Take a risk and get to know that person somehow. If you can’t find a connection with your target, go directly to him. Most people want to help if they can.
So fill your sphere of influence with the right people. Surround yourself with positive thoughts, positive activities and positive influences. If you’ve done a good job at this, there is only one thing left to determine:
Are you good enough in the four areas (spirituality, family, finances and health) to be in someone’s sphere of influence?
Hopefully you’ve allowed me into your sphere of influence and are motivated by me. If not, I’m not doing a good enough job. Please let me know in any of the following ways if I am achieving that goal:
