“I hate it when Suzie does that!”
“Why does management make these decisions. Don’t they know we don’t like to do that?”
“I wish Joe would have asked me before he did that.”
Do you find yourself using these types of statements? You complain about decisions others make regardless of whether it impacts you. You put so much negative energy into things of which you have no control.
If you can’t control it, don’t worry about it.
Worrying does not help resolve a situation. It only makes you feel worse. This is especially true if you have no control over the situation about which you are worrying. If you feel compelled to do something, take action. Actions truly do speak louder than words.
You control most aspects of your life though. You may think you’re being controlled by your boss, spouse, parent or even the government. That’s really not true. You choose to let them “control” you.
Let’s look at some aspects of your life that you control:
Attitude – You control your attitude. You, and only you, choose your outlook on life. No one forces you to be a negative or positive person. Even those people with some of the most difficult physical issues are very positive people. Why? Because they want to be.
Look at Kyle Maynard. He was born with no arms or legs. He could be the most negative person in the world and no one would blame him for it. Instead, he is extremely positive and has accomplished more already in his life than most of us with full physical abilities. He has the right attitude.
Career/job – Yes, you control your career or your job. You can do several things to climb the corporate ladder. You can change jobs if you want. If you don’t like your job, you can do something about it. Change your attitude toward it, take actions to change what you don’t like or quit. You have control.
Friends – Are your friends positive or negative influences on you? You control how much time you spend with someone, who that someone is and what you do with that someone. If you don’t like the person you are when spending time with a certain person or group
